Our highly respected programme offers a Bachelor of Education degree that started in 2020. From one student, we have grown to a thriving community of 168 individuals from different backgrounds who share a passion for revolutionising the communication design field.
It is an integrated Communication Design programme that combines the teaching of the theories, principles and practices of Visual Communication design, marketing and persuasive psychology with pedagogy and entrepreneurship training.
The programme aims to enable students build their capacity to become effective and efficient Graphic Design tutors in pre-tertiary educational institutions, Creative Directors in Advertising and Marketing Communication Agencies and to be able to start and operate their own Communication Design Establishments.
The programme covers courses in specialised areas such as Marketing Communication, Still-picture Photography, Motion-picture Photography, Commercial Printing, Environmental Graphics, Information Graphics, Publication Design, Identity Design and Branding, Motion Graphics, 3D Modelling, Animation, Web Design, TV Advertising, Typography among others.
Our Journey
The Communication Design programme was born out of a vision to create a conduit for talented individuals to channel their creativity through design and technology. Since our first student in 2020, our inclusive academic environment has grown exponentially. We now host 168 students, including around 40 female scholars, each contributing unique perspectives and innovative ideas.
Academic Programmes
The cornerstone of our section is the Bachelor of Education in Communication Design programme. Students delve into diverse areas, including graphic design, multimedia, UI/UX design, and visual communication. Simultaneously, our Sandwich Programme offers a platform for students to gain invaluable industry experience, complementing their academic learning.
Our Faculty
Our team of dedicated professionals consists permanent lecturers, technicians, and several part-time lecturers with diverse industry experiences with diverse industry experiences. Their collective wealth of knowledge and industry experience ensures that our students receive a well-rounded, contemporary, and relevant education.

From a single pioneering student in 2020 to a thriving group of 168 diverse learners today, our student body is the heart and soul of our programme. The strong representation of female students, making up about 40% of the cohort, enriches our academic community. Our students also have opportunities to engage in various co-curricular activities, nurturing a sense of collaboration and unity.
Facilities and Resources
Our modern facilities support students on their educational journey, offering up-to-date computer labs, an interactive design studio, and a comprehensive resource library filled with books and materials on communication design. These resources provide a conducive learning environment, promoting creative thought and facilitating innovation.

Admission/Entry, Progression and Graduation Requirements
The following are eligible for the programme:
a. SSSCE holders with credit passes (A-D) in THREE core subjects including English language and Mathematics, plus Integrated Science or Social Studies and THREE credit passes (A-D) in the following electives: General Knowledge in Art and Graphic Design plus ONE of the following: Picture Making, Textiles Design, Sculpture, Ceramic, Leatherwork, Jewellery and Basketry.
b. WASSCE holders with credit passes (A1–C6) in THREE core subjects including English language and Mathematics, plus Integrated Science or Social Studies and THREE credit passes (A1–C6) in the following electives: General Knowledge in Art and Graphic Design plus ONE of the following: Picture Making, Textile Design, Sculpture, Ceramic, Leatherwork, Jewellery and Basketry.
c. NABTEX Certificate II holders with at least credit passes in THREE core subjects including English Language and Mathematics plus Integrated Science, Social Studies or Technical Drawing plus credit passes in THREE elective subjects of the Creative Art/Painting and Decorating, Printing and Photography programmes.
d. HND Commercial Art or Industrial Art (Graphic Design or Communication Design related options) holders from accredited local or international tertiary institutions.
e. Diploma holders in Graphic Design or Communication Design related programmes from accredited local or international professional institutions.
f. Diploma in Education holders from an accredited tertiary institution with Visual Art or Painting and Decorating background.
g. Mature Students: This category of candidates must be at least 25 years of age before admission and show proof of age with birth certificate or any legitimate documentary proof of date of birth. Prospective candidates must also have at least two years working experience in Communication Design: Sign Writing, Commercial Printing, Photography, Multimedia and other Communication design vocations, and must submit a certificate or testimonial from a supervisor and a personal art portfolio. Apart from the University matured entrance examination, such candidates must as well pass special departmental requirement interview.
Note: Applicants of categories d - f must pass departmental selection interview. Such applicants will be admitted to level 200.
Requirements for graduation
For a candidate to qualify for the award of the Bachelor of Education Degree in Communication Design, he/she must satisfy the following conditions:
- Pass all prescribed general, faculty and departmental courses
- Accumulate a minimum of 145 credits in four years
- Attain a minimum Cumulative Grade Point Average (CGPA) of 1.0
- Settle all financial and other obligations to the University
- Be in good standing – not barred for disciplinary reasons.
